In order to hold BitMON OrdinalsBitMON Ordinals, you will need a wallet that is capable of handling ordinals. There are many options available but the Xverse is one of the most widely used wallets with ordinals support and has the ability to be connected to a Ledger hardware wallet.

If you have not set up an Xverse wallet, you can find a good starting guide on the Xverse blog here: https://www.xverse.app/blog/create-a-bitcoin-wallet

It is important to note that a BTC wallet, you will have two wallet addresses. The Bitcoin address is where BTC tokens should be sent or received from. The other address is an Ordinals/BRC-20 where the BitMON can be received or traded from. ❗❗If you send or try to receive an ordinal at the BTC wallet address, the ordinal may be lost so double-check the correct address is being used❗❗

    Minting Ordinals on MagicEden

    1. Send some BTC to the Bitcoin Payments address. Network fees will be withdrawn from this wallet
      • Minting ordinals will often have a network fee cost associated with it. If the ordinals have been pre-inscribed, those fees should be fairly low (e.g. $25-50 though as with all cryptocurrency, these rates can fluctuate with network activity and the price of the cryptocurrency itself.
      • Due to the speed of BTC network, it is suggested to send BTC ahead of the mint start time.
    2. Connect your Ordinal-enabled wallet to Magic Eden
      • You will need to sign your wallet (no transaction/network fees).
    3. Navigate to the proper launchpad site.
      • Please refer only to official links within the Monsters Discord. Be wary and check links sent to you from non-trusted sources.

      • Once you have sent the transaction, you will just need to be patient and wait for the block to confirm the transaction. There is no ability to lose or be outgassed. The ordinal will eventually be minted to your wallet.
    5. When the transaction has been committed, you will be able to see the ordinal inscription in your wallet.
      • Inscriptions should be sent to your Ordinals/BRC-20 address.
      • If you’ve sent your Ordinal to your BTC payment address, ensure to transfer it to your Ordinals address before doing any other transactions from the wallet or your Ordinals may be lost. Reach out to MagicEden, Xverse, or your wallet’s support team if you need help.

    Ledger Support

To add an additional layer of support to protect your crypto assets, Xverse does have built-in support for Ledger hardware wallets. Official directions can be found on the Xverse site: https://www.xverse.app/blog/ledger-ordinals-support-with-xverse

This guide hopes to provide some clarity around using a wallet that may contain BTC. Ledger does not differentiate between BTC and Ordinals/BRC-20 wallet addresses clearly so there is a possibility to lose your ordinal if you send from the wrong address within Ledger Live.

    💡
The best suggestion to prevent spending from the wrong address is to use Xverse to handle all transfers as the UI clearly states the Bitcoin and Ordinals/BRC-20 addresses. DO NOT USE Ledger Live to make transfers to avoid confusion.

Step 1: Ensure Bitcoin app is installed on Ledger

    • Connect your Ledger to your computer and enter the PIN code
    • Open Ledger Live desktop app
    • Ensure the Bitcoin application is installed via Ledger Live
    • Install Bitcoin app, if not done already

Step 2: Connect hardware wallet to Xverse Wallet

    • Go back to your Xverse wallet extension
    • Follow screens/prompts below

Step 3: Verify addresses between Xverse and Ledger Live

    • This step is optional, but in case you want to check, you will see that Xverse creates the same accounts within the Ledger
Your Ledger-enabled Bitcoin and Ordinals/BRC-20 addresses should now be setup.

    Step 4: Additional Safety Measures

    • If you have multiple accounts within Xverse, name them with something descriptive (e.g. Ordinals Ledger, etc.)
    • If you intend to hold BTC on the Ledger separately from the BTC payment address associated with the ordinals address, you can create another Ledger-enabled wallet address on Xverse. Xverse will create another pair of BTC and Ordinal wallet addresses. You can ignore the Ordinal address and use the BTC payment address.
    • When creating an account on Xverse, you may run into the following warning message. You can follow the supplied link and check if there are indeed existing ordinals or sats within the wallet
